It’s always a funny thing to me when people complain about the price of video game consoles or PCs but don’t bat an eye at paying over $1,000 for a cell phone that they are more than likely going to replace after two years

I truly believe the next gen will start in Fall of 2027! That’ll be 7 years since their release. They’ll probably start at $999.99. I could see it because we easily spend $1,000+ on cell phones that we usually don’t keep longer than two years (on average). I have no problem spending $1k on the next gen if it’s close to being up to par with today’s PCs. Sadly, I do think this will be the last console generation with disc drives but I also think this will be the generation that’ll embrace PC integration. I love game discs as much as anyone can but if we’re being honest… Most of the discs don’t even have the game on them, connecting online is inevitable. I do wish they’d let us download the game and verify its legitimacy once versus having to connect for games that we clearly own. Even games that we get through PlayStation Plus or Game Pass should be able to be played without connecting online after the initial download. Surely they could save the subscriptions expiration date onto the console…But that’s just it, isn’t it? We don’t truly own the games anymore, which is why I refuse to pay full price unless it’s a game I know I’m going to like 100%

GTA 6 shouldn’t cost more than $80 unless it includes the online version.

Both Divinity games were fire but neither was as good as BG3. However, I’m going to replay Divinity 2 before the new one comes out because it’s been like 8 years since I beat it

I personally don’t have a serious problem with it as long as the announced title doesn’t get cancelled. I wish no game was announced more than 2 years before it’s release date

You’re saying that but this is the new normal. Bookmark this page so you don’t forget…. The next Xbox and PlayStation will easily be $900+ unless things with the tariffs and shortages end soon. Given that the President we have is currently still in his first year, we may have to deal with these prices until January 2029! The thing is the PS6 and Xbox will be released by Fall 2027

I personally game on my LG C4 & anytime anyone comes over and sees it for the first time… they are amazed! I too am amazed at how good it looks. Best TV I’ve ever owned and it’s not even close. I also have a PC hooked up to it and it also looks fantastic. I probably won’t be upgrading until 8k becomes more normalized

@Aaron, good article. But to answer the question: Would you get GTA 6 on a current-gen console or hold off to play it on a next-gen system?The answer is no. I don’t believe anyone would wait to play it because there are bound to be entirely too many unavoidable spoilers. Not only that but I don’t know a single one of my gaming friends who only bought GTA V once! I bought it for Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. And because of the bundling of the shark cards, I would end up buying multiple copies of the game because it was cheaper than buying the shark cards outright. I have commented on this website numerous times about why they won’t delay next gen consoles because of GTA VI. It doesn’t make sense for them to do it. Just like with the GTA release on Xbox 360, I believe that GTA VI will release in Fall of 2026 and then the next generation of consoles will launch in Fall of 2027. GTA was on Xbox 360 for maybe a year before it launched on Xbox One, I expect the same thing to happen again.

The reason I’m not disappointed is because I already knew this was coming. I’ve stated my theory before and got downvoted but I’ll put it here again in simpler form:

GTA VI will release on Current Gen (PS5&Xbox) in Fall of 2026. Next Gen will begin in Fall of 2027 and will more than likely have GTA VI as a launch title. 

Pam While I mostly agree with you (I still have 2 years and 9 months left before my Xbox Game Pass Ultimate expires). I personally don’t plan on unsubscribing unless the next gen Xbox reveal is terrible or the price point passes $300 per year through the online vendors.
