If they want my money then it's going to have to be on a physical disc and playable offline. I don't have consistent internet at any point in time. And even if I did the consumer is who should be making the rules. Not this exploitative bs from the companies.

Gamers are pathetic for allowing convenience to override ethics. It is wholly unethical for companies to sell games digitally. And they should be fined out of existence for it. No tolerance whatsoever. What they're doing should be considered criminal and be aggressively punished

Remakes are an idiotic idea in the first place, but they should always be 100% faithful to the original games or be barred from being permitted to exist. This doesn't preclude additional aspects, but the game should have 100% of what existed in the original.

For me though, remasters are the only reasonable option. If I've played the original of a game, the reason I want to go play it again is to experience what I liked about the game the first time I played it. Remakes are almost never even close to the same experience, so I see no point in them to begin with

They need to remaster the rest of their PS1 catalog. No remakes though. Remakes are an entirely different experience and are pointless if we want to play the actual game and not a dumb reimagining of them.

If remakes were faithful recreations like the GameCube updates of the original Resident Evil and Metal Gear Solid games of the early 2000s, or the more recent Crash Bandicoot remakes, then I'd be all about that. Functionally those were still the same game.

Remakes like Resident Evil 2 and Final Fantasy 7 are explicitly NOT the original and make as little effort to keep with the overall feel and interface of the originals. They are invalid to me and are grossly disrespectful to their source material

Absolutely NOT. Remasters, sure. I'll buy that. But remakes shouldn't ever be permitted to exist. At least not in the way they're done now.

If the gameplay is different then there's no point because at that point it's explicitly NOT the same game. The way Crash Bandicoot was remade I have less issue with because it was simply trying to bring visuals up to modern standards. I still think that's asinine, but at least it shows an ounce of respect for the original games. If the gameplay is "modernized" that is blatant disrespect for the game.

As someone who played all these games when they were new, I expect to have 100% the same experience if I go try to play them. That's the entire point of having nostalgia for classic games. To play the ACTUAL game. Not some bastardized version that changes everything to the point it's unrecognizable. FF7 Remake and Rebirth being the most disgusting and inexcusable crimes against the original works.

If remakes absolutely have to be done, then they had better do Remasters to go alone with them. These games need to be made available in their original condition. Modern gamers are used to everything being homogenized. Every game plays exactly the same. If they can't handle the way the games were designed originally that's their problem. Their lack of attention span or laziness to learn how to play a game with a different control scheme is something they should work on and stop expecting their tastes to get catered to in every aspect of game design

I will never understand why anyone would buy an Xbox and then complain about not having enough JRPGs. The Xbox has been a brand for 20+ years now and has NEVER been a viable option for playing lots of such games. You don't go to Taco Bell and whine that they don't have cheeseburgers

Yet... Constantly hearing ya'll go bonkers when you don't get any of these titles. Buy another console that actually supports these games. It's not like you're getting anything of value in terms of exclusives on Xbox anyway. Halo, Fable, Gears, and Forza. And recently Bethesda. These are the cringiest IPs in gaming and you've tied yourself to that brand. You've made your choice. Live with it, or buy a machine worth owning.
