Yes agreed. You own the hardware but nothing else. The OS is just licensed to you. And all the console manufacturers have similar terms in their EULA, as Hoegg's Law video shows.
People should be mad but they should mad at all the companies, not just Nintendo because unfortunately it is not just them.

Actually you are correct, you do own the physically console. But you don't own the OS, you only have the license to use it under certain conditionsI. F you want to install your own OS on it, feel free to try.
For the record, Nintendo doesn't disable the consoles themselves, just the console ability to access Nintendo Online services. Cartridges with games on them will work just fine even after Nintendo "bricks" it. You just can't access Nintendo Account or use their online services.
