See AllBest Handheld Castlevania Games That Still Hold Up
Harmony of Dissonance wasn't that bad and people are way too harsh on it and I don't think it deserves to be called the one of the worst when dreck like Haunted Castle, Legends, The Adventure, Cv64, and LoD exist. Sure, HoD has a few problems like the dual castle layouts and the music, but it doesn't deserve the hate it gets. Seriously people seem to not say one good thing about that game. It gets nothing but hated on. Even Circle of The Moon (which was somehow worse than HoD) even gets more respect, for whatever reasons why.
Why does CoTM get a free pass while HoD doesn't, is it because it's the first handheld Castlevania game to adapt Symphony of The Night's gameplay? There was a lot of issues with CoTM, like having to grind for DSS cards and items. The game is also very difficult and not in the rewarding kind of way, like Order of Ecclesia. Also, the castle layout is worse than it was in HoD. For example, there's way too many vertical rooms and they're somehow worse than the endless horizontal hallways in HoD. Also, no shop to buy items means you have to grind for potions, tonics, weapons, and armor. Sure, the music is a lot better than in HoD, but that's probably the only advantage over Harmany. I agree that HoD had terrible music and besides the obtuse castle layouts and backtracking, those are the only fair criticisms for Harmony. The rest is just nitpicking, for the sake of nitpicking. People really need to stop complaining about HoD look at it for what it was. It was in no way a masterpiece and yes, Aria of Sorrow is vastly superior. If people want a bad Casltevania game, then play either Haunted Castle (not the new remake from Dominus Collection) or The Adventure on Game Boy. The WiiWare remake was actually good, but you can no longer play that game, sadly. Here's hoping a potential 4th Castlevania collection features The Adventure ReBirth. Mega Man 9 and 10 were brought back, so why not The Adventure ReBirth?
