I'm so sick of websites claiming FF14 is solo friendly. It's the absolute opposite of solo friendly. It literally blocks your path through the game with multiplayer raids and boss fights. You cannot progress without teaming up. Sure, most dungeons can be done with NPC's but there's still lots of content that's cannot be completed solo. This content is MSQ (main story quest) content and MUST be completed to continue.
After over 15 hours of play the lack of a fast travel to already visited areas has turned me off. I'm one for exploring every inch of a game but the fact I'm going back and forth to zones and enemies just respawn constantly and the fact the movement is painfully slow has put me off.
