Wish we could go back to the days of sandwich items and other such things for mystery gifts… competitive-play pokemon doesn’t represent enough of the player base in my opinion to be devoting those rewards to such a thing.
And to be quite honest, for those who do participate in the competitive scene, isn’t the point that *YOU* hatched/caught, EV trained, and otherwise raised the Pokémon yourself, deciding on its moves, nature, held items and such, kinda the point? To simply be handed a pokemon that’s already been mostly set for you doesn’t seem to appeal to anything but the competitive players with less skill or time to play competitively. Might be a possible way to introduce newer players to the ranked scene, but then it forces them into playing the way that single pokemon does, instead of forging your own strategies.
