See AllDragon Age Creator Addresses Veilguard's 'Woke' Criticism
"The game has always been 'woke'" is true. The difference is IMHO, it's been done right. The characters' sexuality and orientation has always served the plot. The best examples are in Inquisition where some were bi, straight, and gay, and had even individual preferences. Iron Bull's #2 Krem (if I remember the name right) was also trans. It wasn't in your face and didn't detract from the story, instead adding to the personality and respect that Iron Bull was given in the game.
On the flip side, sticking with Bioware, in ME:Andromeda there was a static NPC that you could have a short conversation with that blurted out immediately that she was trans with no context, established relationships, or narrative purpose. It was blatantly bad that Bioware patched that character's dialogue.
The problem with "woke" in entertainment is that it inserts identities of characters as its primary focus, not part of a narrative or character development. This makes people not care about the character.
Just my 2 cents - 5 cents now with inflation.
