You youngins are gonna scratch your head but back in the day there were several high profile games that rivalled Cyberpunk 2077 and others. How far back? Try the launch version of Falcon 3.0! You wanna talk buggy?! Ouch! Indeed, the game became a legend but it's release out of the gate was rough. As was it's successor, Falcon 4. Again, now a well rounded platform after years of patches and rereleases. The current BMS version is superb and gives DCS a run on its monopoly money. To be fair, these games/simulators are complex.
Another example would be Outpost by Sierra. So bad the entire ending of the game was yanked out! Plus it was recalled after launch for being so bugridden.
Myth 2 from good ol' boys, Bungie, would erase your entire Windows directory and most of the rest of the drive with it when you uninstalled the game! Yeah. Gamers today have it pretty easy considering what we had to put up with back in the DOS era.
Oh! One more...Pool of Radiance. Buggiest POS 'game' I ever bought on release that actually ran! No joke.
