7 Open-World Games With Environmental Storytelling Better Than Elden Ring
Pretty disappointed that Assassin's Creed didn't get a mention in the article. I understand especially early in the series they weren't really open world as we know the term now but Black Flag is what everyone claims Witcher 3 is. Unity who had issues at launch, (no more or as bad as Cyberpunk 2077 which made the list) is still an amazing game with a good storyline that deserved a sequel imo. Origins might be one of the most beautiful worlds ever built for a video game coming 2nd to only RDR2, Odyssey is so underrated on visuals, story and gameplay as is Valhalla. I will admit that Mirage and Shadows have dampened my excitement with the series but regardless of how you feel about the direction change of the title or how you feel personally towards Ubisoft between Far Cry and Assassin's Creed, and their Tom Clancy titles, Ghost Recon and The Division they have made some of the best open worlds in gaming history, at least for me anyway.
Red Dead Redemption Has Fallen into the Same Pitfall as The Last of Us
The Last of Us, RDR & RDR 2 are all very good and fun games to play. I thoroughly enjoyed all of them some more than others for various reasons. One thing that I do not worry about is a 3rd installment of Red Dead because of one simple fact and that is RockStar. Every game, ESPECIALLY sequels, prequels or trilogies are going to get negative attention and outcry from some percentage of fans. However if these companies just focus on making the best game that they possibly can make that percentage is going to be low. It matters not if the protagonist is known or unknown, if the game is good then the game is good. As long as Rockstar don't turn into Ubisoft overnight a 3rd installment of Red Dead will be good, of that I have no doubt. However, the online version may fall on its face especially if they are in the process of making GTA 7 when RDR 3 comes out I am sure they will go all in on the latter and leave the former to die a slow painful death yet again, but at least we will have another amazing story mode again....
