Tyler I think the multi-billion dollar global corporate conglomerate with decades of experience in the industry and the unimaginably massive wad of sales and marketing data has a pretty good idea of how any given decision will affect their business. That's kind of a requirement for becoming a multi-billion dollar global corporate conglomerate in the first place. This "debate" has been going on for as long as the internet has existed so, if increasing accessibility and widening customer bases didn't increase profits then the practice would have died out decades ago, so I don't think you have anything to worry about in that regard.
I'd also like to point out that this move will make the game playable and enjoyable for a larger number of disabled folks who may not have had the capacity to do so before, and I don't see why we should encourage purposely gatekeeping out disabled people when we could simply not use the lower difficulty. Like, that's an option you can choose. It has no impact on your life whatsoever beyond what you choose for yourself.
And, frankly, I don't think it makes sense to tell people that don't fit your specific, narrow, arbitrary idea of who should be allowed to play video games that they're effectively forbidden from playing and enjoying certain games exclusively because you feel entitled to having games tailored entirely to your own tastes and no one else's even when the option to play in the specific way you want already exists. If making someone else's experience worse makes yours seem somehow better then I really think you might want to take some time to honestly examine why that might be.
