See AllAfter Playing the Black Ops 7 Beta, I'm Worried About This Year's Call of Duty
Uh I think you're getting that backwards. The three lane map design was absolutely HATED--go watch The Act Man's videos on the CoD's between Ghosts through CoD WW2. The tired, predictable, cliche, boring 3-lane structure got soo overdone and stale. That's why Infinite Warfare and WW2 were some of the most hated CoD's (despite having decent campaigns). Modern Warfare 2019 was such a breath of fresh air offering actually good map flow and design, and this was great. Now Treyarch is returning to the old failed formula, and it's obvious this game is going to tank hard. Black Ops 7 vs Battlefield 6 is just Infinite Warfare vs Battlefield 1 all over again.
After Playing the Black Ops 7 Beta, I'm Worried About This Year's Call of Duty
Black Ops 6 is imo one of the all-time best Call of Duty's. The campaign has an excellent story rivaling the amazing Black Ops 1, but with some of the most varied and innovative level design in a campaign yet, borrowing and expanding on ideas from Black Ops 3 and the also excellent Modern Warfare III (reboot). The multiplayer is a ton of fun, especially with the awesome new modes like "Ransacked" which is a great spin on CTF. Zombies is excellent too, thanks to maps with wide areas and armor pickups. I was able to get to nearly Round 20 just playing Zombies solo. My only criticism was the absence of "Ground War" in MP and having a silent protagonist in the campaign, which are minor gripes.
So coming from that I was actually rather hyped for Black Ops 7.
The Beta killed all the hype.
Rehashing the Black Ops 2 plot, with Menendez and Mason?
Bringing back garbage matchmaking that is not skill based?
"Futuristic" yet there is not even wall-running and jetpacks like Black Ops 3 had?
Bringing back the mediocre three-lane map structure that tanked Call of Duty series until MW 2019 finally ditched it?
Removing the "tactical" super sprint (now requires a perk)?
Yeah, sorry, this game sucks. Lazy rehash of Black Ops 2 with a few sprinklings of Black Ops 3 thrown in. Somehow this "futuristic" game is actually slower with less movement than the modern era games. How does that make sense?
I'll stick with BO 6.
