I can agree with her needing to evolve her character as the game goes on. Especially after she had to deal with multiple betrayals fairly early into the main story. I don't necessarily agree with it needing to be edgier though. I feel like edgy isn't really something that fits Star Wars that well and usually comes off a bit cringe.
