See AllWhy Oblivion Remastered Players Are Flocking Back to Skyrim
Oblivion has a certain charm to it like Morrowind, it’s very unique and quirky and while Remastered keeps some of those traits it also sacrifices a lot by updating the graphics and making the game feel generic compared to the original art style and in some cases censors the original vision for no real clear reason.
The Oblivion modding scene is also massive and there are multiple extremely enjoyable Oblivion overhauls like The Last Seed which do much more for the game than Remastered does.
Remastered will be made or broken by the modding scene, if they support it then it will have legs, if they don’t then it will likely fall by the wayside while heavy oblivion fans will go back to the OG for its massive, engaging mod community.
Dark Souls Remastered had a similar fate, it was often passed over for the original until modders fixed and added to it to make it the superior experience. The difference here is a new engine and new (generic IMO) art style which will present a much more difficult challenge for modders.
