As a fan of some live service games like (early) Tarkov, Arc, and Path of Exile, I can tell you what attracts me to it.
1 - You make your own objective. Do you want to do all the quests? Unlock the entire codex? Grind for the prestige mechanic to get the biggest bonus? Collect 600 ducks? You get to decide how to play your game, and there is plenty to do.
2 - You can quit and come back. Updates mean that you can leave for 6 months and come back to a refreshing experience.
