I'm definitely picking it up(FFT Ivalice Chronicles) but I was so looking forward to eventually getting Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced 1 & 2, loved those games so much so it has been a bummer knowing that it will probably never come to be
There were a few things that ruined 16 for me but surprisingly the map wasn't one of them
1. No standard or interchangeable Party
2. The combat was slow af, I was sadly expecting something more along the lines of Nier Automata or how Lost Souls Aside looks, ffs there wasn't even a sprint toggle and they had Clive do a full stop immediately after his dodge, making movement a dredge
3. No mini-games, I think they said something along the lines of that they didn't put in mini-games because they didn't think Clive would be interested in that on his quest for revenge but show me a WWII Vet that doesn't like a game of cards
I think the pushing the graphics to the limits bogged the game down and made them implement these shat systems but they need to learn that a game with 5/10 graphics can survive and thrive if it has 10/10 gameplay but a game with 5/10 gameplay won't get anywhere even with 10/10 graphics, the game needs to be fun at the end of the day
This is why a large swath of people like me will never put money or time into games like this, I absolutely would if I knew the game would be getting an offline solo version after the live service shuttered because then I wouldn't be worried about losing all the time and money I put into the product/company. These companies really need to start building in an offline mode to their games so that it's an easy transition and so that they actually do right by their player base, or they can keep losing out on money and new fans because they don't want to respect us or our time. Not to mention game preservation is becoming really important, I love the final fantasy universe and want to play all it's stories but can't bring myself to play certain ones like this because any random Tuesday it could be shuttered
