See AllDragon Age: The Veilguard Review
This is not Dragon Age. There’s nothing about this game that feels like Dragon Age.
If you loved Origins, II, and Inquisition, forget about Veilguard. This game might be good and cool in its own way—and trust me, it is—but, much like when Dungeon Siege III came out, it’s a decent game that simply doesn’t belong in the original series and doesn’t follow its legacy.
This is the worst way to ruin a brand: by using a trusted name to promote something that isn’t true to its roots. This game basically erases all the decisions you made in the previous three games, making every choice you've ever made completely meaningless.
Why can’t game studios trust the games they create and let them stand on their own? Instead, they use a beloved name, a well-established brand, only to undermine it in the pursuit of their latest hit. It’s the worst.
Do yourself a favor and skip this game. If you’re really curious, wait until it drops below $20 on Steam. Save your money.
And as for BioWare: if you ever want us to trust you with the Dragon Age franchise again, you need to publicly apologize for using its name in this way. You must clearly state that this game is nothing but an alternate timeline and is NOT canon. Then, maybe—just maybe—we’ll give you another chance. Otherwise, this will be a death blow for your studio, and the Dragon Age legacy will pass on to someone more capable. Show us that you are still that capable studio.
