I have watched both and honestly I feel like both would have the same rating, while I agree frieren has great story, I would argue that solo also has a good story.While not the same level of story still quite good.

Now where as frieren has a overall better story (so far I wish to point out), solo leveling has WAY better combat. To the point where in solo leveling the fights are extremely crisp and well made, whereas in frieren they are lackluster at best while they tell a good story during the fights, that's about the best part of said fights, usually they're very boring fights. This is my personal opinion as is this whole post and I mean the gamerant post.

And just as a quick side note while frieren is a great anime however if an anime can't keep people's attention because it's too boring for some or in this case obviously most, no one's going to watch the whole thing unless they really want to. The same thing goes for movies when you go to the movie theater might I add. Super boring uninteresting movies they get bad reviews or they box office bomb it's the same here.
