I'm currently rewatching season 2 right now and the show still is finding it's legs, its very evident even early in the show that the character that shouldn't be back for the reboot is Xander. He's worthless as a character, and doesn't contribute one positive thing to the Scooby gang then, and I hardly think he's improved with age. And yes, he's a better rounded out in the comics, I don't think the actor is actually capable of portraying him beyond the selfcentered, immature, loudmouth, and sexist jerk that he always was in the show.
