brian Technically no it isn't, what you're describing is an avatar, not a ("roll" sic) role. Controlling a character alone doesn't define what an RPG is, by that determination almost any and all games are such. A character creation screen isn't really even part of the equation, as games without one can also be RPGs.

Doesn't it have two contexts in naval terms? Yes it often means the ship carrying the flag officer, but it can also mean the lead ship of a fleet / the most armed or one taking point etc. While you're correct that discounts Kirk's ship, it doesn't for Picard's Enterprise.

More to the point, the naval definition TODAY for the term is irrelevant because Starfleet is not a military organisation. This time period is far from ours in the future and is used by a scientific organisation.

Flagship can mean anything within the scope of a futuristic scientific and exploration group. The crew are not military, therefore the term isn't entirely either.

While the word may have originally been a naval term, nobody owns a word, it can be utilised for other designations.

The companion system as a whole in BG3 was pretty lacklustre and disappointing. I think I handled every situation by just choosing the "stay silent" or "ask them what they want" and it auto resolves any conflict. Not to mention you don't even need to speak to any of em at any point really and they stay around. Or the most hilarious never speak to them and all of em wanna jump in bed with you.

BG2 handled it better where you were FORCED to speak to them everytime cause they started the conversation. And you couldn't do the chest let them resolve it route, if you didn't answer right or had the wrong people in your party etc, they'd leg it or attack you.

You actually had to work and balance your party, BG3 it didn't even matter. It was like an RPG on autopilot.

We had one of those already in Irenicus, he was cruel and ruthless, captured and tortured Imoen for weeks until you arrive... Then traps you, murders all the civilians in the room to empower his spell, and steals your Bhaalspawn soul. 😆

Bodhi was quite intimidating too. The Emperor by comparison was a very dull antagonist, but nothing was gonna top BG2's plot tbf.

Oof haven't tried this buffed version yet, but the previous version was extremely easy to defeat. Just nuke it, and it's over in 2-3 turns. I had Karlach aggro it while the other 3 party members were hiding.

Once she enrages she has damage resistance and the Buolette just focuses on her. The other 3 sneak over and upcast and nuke from range. Guiding Bolt / Chromatic Orb / Sneak Attack bow shots.

My sorcerer can fire twice per turn thanks to Quickening. Everyone tends to hit up up to and around 40-50 per spell upcast. The under 15 change isn't relevant as a result. It's over very fast.

I agree the previous interations of bosses were too easy. My history with "hardcore" raiding in WoW and RPGs from the age of 14 probably preps my mind for these kinda bosses/strats. 😅😝
