They should have just sent over that team a build of Creation with the latest renderer but some old bits to run Oblivion stuff. The hybrid engine is to blame for limited mod support. It wouldn't have been that difficult for Bethesda to create that engine fork for them considering how modular their engine in particular is.

Quake 3 is still the best IMHO, and all the mods for it. QC made a big mistake trying to hop on the hero shooter hype after Overwatch. And a bigger mistake using that bastardized Saber engine and not having Radiant for mappers or private servers. Beautiful game, very fun when there isn't ult spam, but missed the mark. The next Quake should focus on a great SP mode for console sales and return the MP to normal Q3 style, the ults back into power ups, and just let players choose their movement type independent of player skin.

When will the industry realize we are burned out on hero shooters? Not even free ones are very successful. They have become a niche like arena shooters.
