Its a good game. I like to play a few games after work when I'm feeling tactical. The only thing I really can't stand about this game though, is when you run into those really annoying comms chatter boxes. They either are just talking with their lips moving and not really saying anything that has to do with the game or and breaking the concentration of their teammates after they have died, they try to either tell you how to play your game or they simply just try to confuse you after they have had their chance in the game to play, and some are just super obnoxious. Then you have those you encounter who make the game humorous, fun and enjoyable.

I withdrew my last review to this game because as I played more of the game, if you can't seem to get your crew working, don't have enough supplies, not enough storage space for the planetary materials you need to survive in the game, you will eventually run into the problem that that game will only last about 40 days in game. You have to constantly go to sleep, and each day the sun gets closer and closer to the planet, which means if that happens, no matter how far you are in the game, its game over. Its you beat the game basically in one try or you just fail, and then you have to start either all over or a previous save from the looks of it. The only interesting thing about this game for me was that you were able to take what they called a Quantum Computer, and it branches out your memories, which then you use a planetary material called peridium to use in the Quantum Computers detailed structures of your past memories and creates a life path for a clone or in this case hence the name "Alters" into either a Scientist, Miner, Doctor, and Technician. These become your "Altered Physical Reality Self" helping you on board the mobile space station. If you can't get them to work or don't have enough crew, resources, and storage space, time will run out in the game and the sun will basically kill you and your crew and burn the space station up, and again which means game over. I thought it was good in the beginning but then I realized once I hit the last day, I had 11 hours and my main character was tired from working, and I had to sleep, as soon as he woke up, game over. Was an interesting start to the game, but to put this kind of element into it where its just game over no matter how far you get in your resources, it's a time sensitive game, and it was like to much of the sims elements was in it, you had to worry about resources, to the alters moods, to having stock, and storage space. Bit of an overload. The game is fun, just a little to much micromanagement.

Can't believe this game is 27 years old, I remember on the weekends me and my friend would play this endlessly trying to solve every puzzle, find all the hidden treasures. Loved this game. I think the hardest temple of them all was the Water Temple. Constantly having to change the water levels, going through the same rooms 5 times or more and equipping the iron boots made the Water Temple quite challenging. Anyone that hasn't played this game and they walk into this temple they are in for treat....lol. Those Zero-Lag XP eye supplements, you might want to take a couple of those before entering this temple, your going to need all the concentration you can get.....

I've been playing this game now for about 20+ hours and I have come across several things that should be noted as you play. Especially in the area of attribute allocations. You will notice that you have 5 areas that you can allocate attribute points. What you want to look for is the areas that allocate the single attribute to multiple areas and then fill in the rest, in this way you are allocating to all areas such as Health, attack power, speed, defense, and critical rate. I didn't start noticing it until maybe after 15 hours of gameplay, anyways, if you allocate this way your characters will build a lot quicker than just allocating to a single area. When you play again just look for the areas that allocate a single attribute point to several areas and then use the remaining points to fill in what wasn't leveled up. It's an excellent way to build your characters attributes that way none of your 3 points that you obtain from one level is wasted on a single location.

I've played every single Metroid game that was created, and this particular game is a work of art and masterpiece. I don't know how this game didn't get a game of the year award, and it should get a best graphics award. Exploring uncharted worlds in the power suit of Samus Aran was truly an exhilerating experience
