See AllMetal Gear Solid 2 Getting the Delta Treatment Could Be Easier For One Big Reason
I don't think they would do either of the portable ops games anytime soon. They were not that popular. Peace Walker on the other hand was a very well regarded and popular game on the PSP. All you need to do is look at the HD remasters to see where the money is. Also, Peace Walker has never had a release on any other platforms than PlayStation devices. The same goes with MGS4. What the author is forgetting is that all the coding leg work for the game play is already done from working on Delta. It would be much easier to just remake the other games with the Delta game engine, especially 1/2. In regards to the game play elements like the overhead camera and such, I don't think anyone would mind playing 1/2 in with updated controls and gameplay. They already did this with MGS3 subsistence and it was universally accepted. MGS4 will probably be next or Peace Walker, only because they don't have versions for sale right now unlike all the other mainstream games.
YouTuber Gets Native PS3 Emulation Running on PS5 Hardware
Natively...
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
What is being demonstrated here is emulation, not code running natively. To be run natively, the code must have been designed to run on the CPU that's running it, no hardware translation or software emulation lawyers in-between. If you want to write tech articles, you need to use the rights words in the right way.
That's not to say Lowest Logan's efforts are invalid, indeed he does prove his point by showing playable frame rates on cut down hardware. The only issue I see.... And this comes from having played with rpcs3, is that the CPU is the biggest bottleneck when it comes to achieving playable performance, the GPU is actually only rendering graphics that targeted hardware from 20years ago so it's only got a light load. Those two shut off cores will help, but does that CPU support AVX512? Does Sony's dev sdk even support the use of avx instructions? The Rpcs3 devs have made good performance dependant on having avx 512 available in the CPU, which is nowhere near universal. In fact avx512 only came to AMD desktop class CPUs with the zen 4/7000 series, so I'm fairly certain the PS5 with its zen 2 based CPU does not have avx 512 at all.
Now look at all this from Sony's perspective. First of all, developing their own emulator (there's no way they would use rpcs3 code for this) would be quite expensive. I actually believe personally they have already tried but have realized that the performance wasn't good enough for them to ship it. For Sony, the performance would have to be close to perfect, they know the community would eviscerate them over any major performance issues and would still complain quite loudly over minor issues. Any emulation they come up with would have to rock solid from the get go, and as we've seen with rpcs3, even after years of development, it still requires excellent hardware, better hardware than you get in a PS5, to get enjoyable framerates.
