See AllBaldur’s Gate 4 Can Reach New Heights of Immersion Through a D&D Feature BG3 Largely Avoided
I wholeheartedly disagree with you. This is a boring mechanic for a video game. No Man's Land has so few character interactions compared to BG3, and there is no detriment to story or gameplay for not speaking a language. In a game like BG3, it would definitely interfere and without meaningful reason.
In a tabletop, the options are limitless if there is a language barrier, something is going to work the problem out, and is part of the fun. That's not something needed in a video game, which is probably why it doesn't exist in BG3.
