I often have mountains of money in the game and there is no reason to just horde it and never buy anything. Buying a lot of the armor especially early on helps you dismantle it and craft armor you want to make. So definitely disagree with the list.
36 total bosses is wild. Some of the side bosses are basically the same as main quest bosses, but it does have a lot of variety in the bosses. The Bellerian fight was tough but I loved the feel of that fight. Have to say out of all the souls likes this one ranks at the very top, it's been very impressive. I wish the colors weren't as muted, so if they make a sequel hopefully they give it more color. I legit would love to see another one of these games.
