With pokemon trying "new stuff" with their sub-series. Digimon original rpg is better and doesn't need to change.

Digimon is originally a Vpet game and is still is, raising them. All they did was add a storyline to them and boom it was better than pokemon game which was good in gen1 but, same plan the rest of the way, maybe add a cutscene to show that they are working hard.

And also nintendo sue others just because people compare to pokemon is showing how fragile their IP is. Pokemon existence is constantly fading that's why it need to release games every year to not be forgotten.

Imo Digimon is a better IP both games and anime. Pokemon is just familiarity and bland comfort.
