A group of avid dataminers uncovered a wide variety of new information about Project Rene. Its findings detail multiple gameplay features and design principles that fans can expect to see implemented into the upcoming The Sims game.

October 18 will mark the second anniversary of the Project Rene announcement. While the game's feature set seems to be worthy of a new mainline installment in the long-running life sim series, EA claimed that Project Rene won't be a direct replacement for The Sims 4, causing some confusion among the fandom about where exactly it's meant to fit in the franchise.

Project Rene's Create A Sim Features Leak Online

A group of dataminers recently obtained the latest playtest build of the game, resulting in some Project Rene images and information leaking online. This investigation has now yielded even more findings, which were compiled by Reddit user DzXAnt22. A major chunk of the new info concerns Project Rene's Create A Sim (CAS) mode, which wasn't available in the playtest but was still found referenced in its codebase. Among other things, dataminers have discovered indications that the upcoming The Sims game will allow players to adjust their characters' height and have them wear multiple layers of clothing, all of which will be fully customizable. Granular body weight controls were also found referenced in Project Rene's code, as was a category of items called mobility aids, which currently only includes wheelchairs.

Project Rene's Create A Sim mode will supposedly even allow players to edit horses, to the point that they'll be able to turn them into unicorns. It will also offer the ability to customize shirt collars and sleeves, as per the same source. Furthermore, the dataminers have discovered references to some career paths, including Chef, Gardener, Student, and Poet. All of the evidence testifying to the existence of these CAS features has been uploaded to Imgur.

The datamining efforts have also yielded some new information about The Hub, the public area that was the focus of the recently concluded playtest and is meant to be central to Project Rene's multiplayer features. Specifically, this location will be the place where players will be able to participate in weekly events and purchase digital goods, including season passes. These findings align with EA's previous confirmation of Project Rene being designed as a free-to-play The Sims experience.

Project Rene Might Have Seasons From Day One

References to a functional metro system used for fast traveling between different game worlds have also been uncovered. Ditto for some textures that suggest objects can be dirty or covered with snow. The latter suggests that seasons could be part of Project Rene from day one rather than being added post-release, which is what happened with The Sims 4.

EA's life simulation franchise The Sims began in the year 2000 with a game of the same name that was, at one point, the highest-selling PC game of all time.

The main series games let players build a home, create a handful of characters, and then guide them through their relationships, careers, and goals.
