11 new games were added to PlayStation Plus earlier today, August 19. As is typical for such library expansions, the majority of the newly introduced titles can be played with a PS Plus Extra subscription, with only a select few requiring a Premium-tier membership.

Ever since restructuring PS Plus into three tiers in mid-2022, Sony has largely stuck to the same content schedule for its service. PS Plus Essential free games are made available on the first Tuesday of each month, while their Extra and Premium tier counterparts drop on the third Tuesday.

PS Plus recently added a beloved survival title that is proving to be a big hit for the platform, despite being seven years old.

The latest of these catalog rotations has occurred earlier today, August 19, around noon ET. As a result, PS Plus subscribers now have access to 11 more games. The list of newly added titles features several big-budget offerings, such as Spider-Man Remastered and Mortal Kombat 1, but also some highly rated indie releases, including Harold Halibut and Coral Island. Earth Defense Force 6 and Sword of the Sea are also part of the August 2025 PS Plus lineup, together with Indika, Unicorn Overlord, and Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End and the Secret Key.

Two of Capcom's Resident Evil remakes have also been added to PlayStation Plus as part of the latest catalog update, which introduced the modernized versions of the second and third numbered entries in the long-running franchise. Both are only available to PS Plus Premium subscribers. Conversely, the remaining nine titles can also be played with the more affordable PS Plus Extra subscription.

Sony typically doesn't disclose how long PS Plus Extra and Premium games will remain available in advance, and it hasn't made an exception in this case, either. Historically, most titles added to the subscription service in the past have spent at least one year on it. First-party games tend to deviate from this pattern, often staying on PS Plus for much longer. While some such titles became de facto permanent offerings, there is precedent for Sony pulling its own games from the service. For example, Horizon Forbidden West was removed from PS Plus back in September 2024.

Based on Sony's typical PS Plus announcement cadence, the next bit of news is expected on the final Wednesday of the month—August 27—when the company is likely to reveal the free Essential-tier games for September 2025. Looking ahead, seven titles are confirmed to be leaving the PS Plus Extra and Premium libraries next month, including UFC 5 and The Plucky Squire.
