The Extra tier of the PlayStation Plus subscription service will be adding The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and nine other games on August 20. PlayStation Plus updates its Extra library once a month, giving subscribers access to new games and replacing the titles that are on their way out.
Unfortunately, PS Plus Extra is losing 10 games on August 20. On that day, Destroy All Humans, Destroy All Humans 2: Reprobed, Lost Judgment, Midnight Fight Express, Moving Out 2, NBA 2K24, Need for Speed Unbound, Sea of Stars, SpellForce 3 Reforced, and Trials of Mana are all getting the boot. But while 10 games are leaving PS Plus Extra on August 20, it's now been confirmed that 10 new games will be added to the service on that same day.
PS Plus Extra Player Count Sees Big Decline in July 2024
Newly published data reveals that player numbers for PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium's July 2024 lineup took a substantial hit.
As announced by Sony, August 20 will see PS Plus Extra add Cult of the Lamb, Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker, Ride 5, Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris, Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet, Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization, Sword Art Online: Last Recollection, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Watch Dogs 2, and Wild Hearts added to the lineup. Most of these new PS Plus Extra games for August 2024 will be playable on both PS4 and PS5, with the exception of Ride 5 and Wild Hearts, which will only be available to PS Plus Extra subscribers on PS5.

Out of all the new PS Plus Extra games for August 2024, the headliner is clearly The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is one of the highest-rated games of all time, earning near-universal critical acclaim and taking home a number of major awards upon its release in 2015. Gamers can easily get hundreds of hours of gameplay out of The Witcher 3, so PS Plus Extra subscribers should easily get their money's worth once the game joins PS Plus Extra on August 20.
PS Plus Extra subscribers will also want to pay special attention to Cult of the Lamb. Cult of the Lamb was one of the highest-rated games of 2022, and it actually just received a major new update. Cult of the Lamb now has co-op, plus those that love the game can purchase the new paid DLC that's available as well.
Sony's PlayStation 5 is part of the ninth console generation and debuted with a launch lineup that included Demon's Souls and Astro's Playroom. The console comes with a Blu-ray disc, although a digital-only edition is also available for a cheaper price.
