Summary
- Get ready to say goodbye to 10 PlayStation Plus Extra games in August 2024.
- Some fan-favorite games like Lost Judgment and Sea of Stars are among those leaving PS Plus Extra on August 20.
- New games are expected to be added to the service that day as well, but they have yet to be announced.
Five more PlayStation Plus Extra games are leaving the service in August 2024 than previously expected. Whereas the free PlayStation Plus games given away through the Essential tier can be kept forever as long as one stays subscribed, the same can't be said for the titles on the Extra and Premium tiers of the service. PS Plus Extra and Premium work more like Netflix or Xbox Game Pass, offering a huge selection of games but rotating titles in and out of availability.
Each and every single month, new games are added to PS Plus Extra and Premium for subscribers to check out. The same day that new games are added to PS Plus Extra and Premium, titles are removed as well. The same will hold true for August 2024. But while PlayStation Plus subscribers don't know what the new additions have in store for August 2024, they do know of at least 10 titles that are getting the boot.
Previously, the PlayStation Plus Last Chance to Play section confirmed that Destroy All Humans: Reprobed, NBA 2K24, Need for Speed Unbound, SpellForce 3 Reforced, and Trials of Mana were all on the way out. Now another five games have been added to the Last Chance to Play section, as noticed by Push Square, bringing the grand total number of departures to 10. Destroy All Humans, Lost Judgment, Midnight Fight Express, Moving Out 2, and Sea of Stars join the previously-confirmed departures. It's expected that all of these games will be removed from PS Plus Extra on August 20.

There are some heavy hitters leaving PS Plus Extra in August. The Destroy All Humans remasters have a nostalgic quality to them, while Lost Judgment is part of Sega's Like a Dragon franchise. Moving Out 2 is a great co-op game to play with friends, while Sea of Stars was one of the rare day one PS Plus Extra games. Sea of Stars also earned a great deal of critical acclaim, and with an update on the way that's set to add local co-op, it's a real shame to see it removed from PS Plus Extra.
While it's sad to see these games removed from PS Plus Extra, there will be new titles added to the service this month as well. Sony will most likely announce the new PS Plus Extra and Premium games for August 2024 on Wednesday, August 14, or thereabouts. In the meantime, it's been leaked that Secret Agent Clank is coming to PS Plus Premium, but it's unclear if it will be doing so as part of the August 2024 new additions.
Sony's PlayStation 5 is part of the ninth console generation and debuted with a launch lineup that included Demon's Souls and Astro's Playroom. The console comes with a Blu-ray disc, although a digital-only edition is also available for a cheaper price.
