Summary
- Six games, including Dysmantle and Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, are leaving PlayStation Plus Extra in July 2024.
- All six departing games offer co-op support in some capacity, impacting co-op gamers.
- New games will be added to PlayStation Plus Extra on July 16, 2024, but they have yet to be revealed.
There are at least six games leaving the Extra tier of the PlayStation Plus service in July 2024, but the departures are especially depressing for co-op gamers. Games leave the Extra tier of PlayStation Plus every month, so it's something that subscribers have to get used to, though some months are more devastating for the service than others.
The last couple of months have been difficult when it comes to the PS Plus Extra departures. PS Plus Extra lost over 30 games in May, and then in June, it lost some critically acclaimed and mega-popular titles, including Grand Theft Auto 5. The PS Plus Extra games leaving in July 2024 shouldn't rock the boat nearly as much, though they are a bummer for co-op gamers.
It's Currently Impossible to Get the Platinum Trophy in Recently Added PS Plus Extra Game
A new report discovers that the platinum trophy for a recent addition to the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium libraries is unobtainable.
The six games leaving PS Plus Extra in July 2024 are Dysmantle, Fast & Furious: Space Racers - Rise of the Shifters, Kingdom: Two Crowns, My Little Pony: A Maretime Bay Adventure, Saints Row 4: Re-Elected, and Tiny Tina's Wonderlands. Unfortunately for co-op gamers, all six of these games have co-op support of some kind. Granted, co-op is a greater focus in some of these than others, but regardless, it's a bummer to see so many co-op games get the boot all at the same time. All six of these games are expected to leave the PS Plus Extra lineup on Tuesday, July 16, though that will also be the day that new games are added to the service as well.
List of Games Leaving PS Plus Extra in July 2024
- Dysmantle
- Fast & Furious: Space Racers - Rise of the Shifters
- Kingdom: Two Crowns
- My Little Pony: A Maretime Bay Adventure
- Saints Row 4: Re-Elected
- Tiny Tina's Wonderlands
Some of these games don't make co-op a big focus, but instead include some co-op options as an extra game mode, as is the case with My Little Pony: A Maretime Bay Adventure, which features co-op for some of its mini-games. Co-op is a central feature in some of the other games leaving, with Dysmantle and Tiny Tina's Wonderlands standing out as the biggest co-op games leaving PS Plus Extra in July 2024.
For the uninitiated, Dysmantle is a survival crafting game where players are free to explore a post-apocalyptic world with a friend. The goal is to work together to collect new resources that in turn allow players to craft increasingly more useful items. Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, meanwhile, is a spin-off of the Borderlands franchise and allows players to play through the entire campaign in split-screen with a friend, with online co-op supported as well. In any case, co-op gamers still have some time to play these games through PS Plus Extra, as they aren't expected to leave until July 16, or thereabouts. Here's hoping that the new PS Plus Extra games for July 2024 include some co-op titles to help replace these departures.
Sony's PlayStation 5 is part of the ninth console generation and debuted with a launch lineup that included Demon's Souls and Astro's Playroom. The console comes with a Blu-ray disc, although a digital-only edition is also available for a cheaper price.
