Summary

  • 13 titles have been added for PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscribers to enjoy at no extra cost.
  • September's PS Plus lineup includes the day-one title The Plucky Squire, Night in the Woods, Far Cry 5, and more.
  • Premium tier subscribers can also play Secret Agent Clank, Mister Mosquito, Sky Gunner, and the PSVR 2 title Pistol Whip.

A total of 13 games are now available for PlayStation Plus members to enjoy, including The Plucky Squire, which just launched onto the service as a day-one release. Each month, PlayStation Plus adds a new batch of games for Extra and Premium subscribers to enjoy at no additional cost. While both tiers share the same titles, PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers receive a bonus handful of games not available to Extra members.

Many PlayStation Plus subscribers would agree that last month's lineup of games was a hit, as it offered a number of highly praised titles. CD Projekt Red's critically acclaimed fantasy RPG The Witcher 3, which is considered by many to be one of the best games the last decade, headlined August's PS Plus offering. EA's Monster Hunter-like Wild Hearts also joined the list, as did Ubisoft's San Francisco-set action sequel Watch Dogs 2. Indie fans were treated to Cult of the Lamb, and Premium subscribers gained access to three classic TimeSplitters games.

September doesn't quite have the same number of heavy hitters, but fans of indie games are sure to be pleased with this month's PlayStation Plus lineup. Headlining the list is The Plucky Squire, a Devolver Digital-published game that blends 2D and 3D gameplay and environments in a cartoon-inspired fantasy setting. Critically acclaimed indie titles Night in the Woods and Road 96 follow suit as well, rounding out a solid selection for indie fans. Far Cry 5 is perhaps the biggest game being offered to PS Plus members this month. Its Montana setting and cult leader villain were standouts for many fans of Ubisoft's premier open-world FPS franchise.

  • Mister Mosquito (PS2)

As for PlayStation Plus Premium tier subscribers, four additional games are being offered up: Secret Agent Clank, Mister Mosquito, Sky Gunner, and a PSVR2 title called Pistol Whip. It seems like September's Premium lineup is continuing PS Plus' recent trend of offering its subscribers older PS2-era games and VR experiences. This makes sense considering many Premium subscribers are likely hardcore PlayStation fans who have an appreciation for more classic titles.

Aside from September's PS Plus offerings, PlayStation fans are having a great month with even more to look forward to this Fall. The recently released Astro Bot wowed critics and fans alike as a celebration of PlayStation history and a 3D platformer on par with that of more classic Nintendo titles. Plus, Bloober Team's long-awaited Silent Hill 2 remake is finally due out on October 8.
