By October 2024, Hogwarts Legacy had sold over 30 million copies, making it one of the best-selling games of all time and essentially guaranteeing its future.

According to a post made by Variety last September, Warner Bros. Discovery CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels stated during an interview at Bank of America's 2024 Media, Communications and Entertainment Conference that a successor to Hogwarts Legacy is "one of the biggest priorities in a couple of years down the road." In that same interview, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment president David Haddad noted that the sequel is a "very big priority" and is currently in development.
