The PlayStation Plus library has expanded to include Abiotic Factor. This day-one release promises to bolster the selection of compelling co-op games on PS Plus.

Developed by New Zealand-based studio Deep Field Games, Abiotic Factor is an open-world survival crafting title that requires players to grapple with everything from alien monsters to a military crusade. They don't have to do it alone, as the game supports online co-op for up to six people. Abiotic Factor debuted as a Steam Early Access title in May 2024 before receiving its full-fledged multi-platform release earlier today, July 22.

5 PlayStation Plus Games to Play This Week (July 21-27)

PlayStation Plus is still overflowing with fantastic games for subscribers to enjoy; here are five titles hand-picked by us for this week.

As previously promised, the co-op survival game has also been added to the PlayStation Plus library on day one. Abiotic Factor is thus now available to Extra- and Premium-tier subscribers with a PS5. Sony typically does not disclose how long titles will remain on PS Plus, and it made no exception in this case. However, based on historical trends, Abiotic Factor will likely stay on the service for at least 12 months, as most additions tend to clear the one-year mark.

Abiotic Factor Debuts to Great User Reviews

Several hours into its 1.0 release, Abiotic Factor holds a 4.62-star rating on the PlayStation Store, based on hundreds of reviews. This aligns with its user scores on Steam, where the game's early access version amassed 94.38% positive reviews over the past 12 months, with Valve's storefront thus qualifying its player impressions as "Overwhelmingly Positive." Abiotic Factor also launched on the Xbox Series X/S and Game Pass earlier today, though it doesn't yet have a user rating on Microsoft's digital storefront.

Looking at the contents of these reviews, plenty of players praised Abiotic Factor's unique premise, which was described as a combination of Half-Life, Grounded, and SCP, successfully merging elements of immersive sims, horror games, and survival crafting experiences. Abiotic Factor's base building mechanics have also elicited numerous compliments, with fans characterizing them as flexible and fulfilling, allowing for detailed setups of all shapes and sizes. Its co-op multiplayer has further endeared the title to players, consistently producing moments of chaos, humor, or both. Current user reviews highlight scenes such as being dragged away by robots or vomiting as a consequence of poor crafting choices as some examples of such memorable moments.

Overall, Abiotic Factor looks like a strong addition to the PS Plus catalog and ranks among the highest-rated games to grace Sony's subscription service in 2025. In related news, PS Plus members have until tomorrow, July 23, to take advantage of a special 30% discount on Cyberpunk 2077's Phantom Liberty expansion. The offer was originally introduced on July 9, coinciding with the base game's addition to the service.
