PlayStation Plus subscribers now have the chance to snag the August 2025 free games for their digital libraries. Every month, PlayStation Plus subscribers are treated to a fresh batch of free games. The PS Plus monthly free games are available to subscribers across all three tiers: Essential, Extra, and Premium, and can be kept as long as one stays subscribed to the service.

For years now, Sony has trained its PS Plus subscribers to expect an announcement about the free games on the last Wednesday of every month, with the titles then added the following Tuesday. However, it's diverted from that pattern in recent months, announcing the free games earlier in the day and, in the case of the August 2025 free games, announcing them on a Tuesday instead of a Wednesday. It will be interesting to see how the next batch of free PS Plus games are revealed, but in the meantime, subscribers can snag the latest free games.

PlayStation Plus’ August Games Continue Its Best Run in Years

PlayStation Plus' monthly games haven't seen a consecutive run like the past few months in a while, and August shows it has no signs of stopping.

From now until September 1, PlayStation Plus subscribers can claim Lies of P, DayZ, and My Hero One's Justice 2 for their digital libraries. Lies of P is a well-reviewed Soulslike game inspired by Pinocchio known for its brutal difficulty, and it just recently released an acclaimed expansion as well. DayZ, meanwhile, is a popular survival game, while My Hero One's Justice 2 is a fighting game based on the My Hero Academia manga/anime franchise. Clearly, there is something for every kind of gamer in the latest batch of free PS Plus games, and so subscribers should be sure to claim them ASAP.

The free PS Plus games aren't the only freebies that PS Plus subscribers can claim. To help celebrate the PlayStation Plus 15th Anniversary, Sony is also giving away free avatars. The free avatars are based on fan-favorite PlayStation games, with Cyberpunk 2077, Hogwarts Legacy, Diablo 4, God of War Ragnarok, and Twisted Metal all represented.

Those who are signed up for the Extra and Premium tiers have even more to look forward to this month. On August 19, Sword of the Sea will be added to PS Plus Extra as a day one game. It will be joined by a slew of other new Extra and Premium titles, but subscribers will have to wait for the official announcement to know what's coming for sure. We know that the original Resident Evil 2 and 3 PS1 games are coming to Premium at some point, but it's unclear if they will be added on August 19 or if fans will have to wait for next month's offerings.
