On Tuesday, August 5, PlayStation Plus subscribers will have the chance to snag some bonus freebies alongside the monthly free games. Every month, PlayStation Plus subscribers across all three tiers are treated to a batch of free games that are theirs to keep as long as they stay signed up for the service. For the most part, the monthly free PS Plus games consist of three titles, but there are times when fans have bonuses to look forward to as well.
On occasion, the free PS Plus games have included a bonus fourth game, sometimes to celebrate an event and sometimes for seemingly no special reason at all. Other times, PlayStation Plus subscribers are treated to different kinds of bonus freebies, and that's the case for the August 2025 offerings.
PS Plus Free Games for August 2025 Revealed
Sony pulls the covers off the August 2025 batch of free games for PlayStation Plus subscribers, which includes a fan-favorite action RPG.
Along with the free PS Plus games for August 2025, subscribers can also look forward to a batch of 15th Anniversary Avatars on August 5. Released to celebrate the PlayStation Plus 15th Anniversary event, the avatars will represent popular PlayStation games like Cyberpunk 2077, Diablo 4, God of War Ragnarok, Hogwarts Legacy, and Twisted Metal. They will be completely free to download once they're added on August 5. It's yet to be clarified how long they will be up for grabs or what they look like, but PlayStation Plus subscribers will find out more once they're made available.

The free Avatars are a nice bonus for PlayStation Plus subscribers to look forward to in August 2025, but most subscribers will no doubt be looking forward to claiming and playing the free games. As usual, there will be three PS Plus games for subscribers to claim in August 2025, with Lies of P, DayZ, and My Hero One's Justice 2. Lies of P is a well-reviewed Soulslike that is known for being extremely challenging, while DayZ is a classic survival game. My Hero One's Justice 2, meanwhile, is a fighting game based on the My Hero Academia anime/manga franchise.
The free PS Plus games for August 2025 and the bonus avatars will be available to subscribers across all three tiers, but those signed up for the Extra and Premium tiers will have some exclusive goodies to look forward to this month as well. The next PS Plus Extra and Premium update will come on August 19, and while we don't know all that it will entail, we do know that Sword of the Sea will be added as a day one game.
