PlayStation Plus subscribers will need a lot of space to download the free monthly games for January 2023. PS Plus members get around three games each month at no extra cost, and users get to keep these titles for as long as they have an active subscription. This functions differently from the Extra and Premium tiers of PS Plus, where players lose access once a game leaves the service.
Sony has confirmed that Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Fallout 76, and Axiom Verge 2 will join PlayStation Plus in January 2023, with all three games available from January 3. While the full list of games was leaked a few days ago, fans now have confirmation of the titles they can play next month. Their file sizes have also been revealed, and it looks like PlayStation Plus users will have to clear up a lot of space to make room for the new games.
PlayStation Game Size on Twitter reveals that PS Plus members will need to have around 120 GB of free space to download the free monthly games for January 2023. Fallout 76 is the biggest game on this list as it takes up 74.997 GB of space. The PS5 version of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order requires 47.274 GB, with 45.444 GB needed for its PS4 counterpart. The file size of Axiom Verge 2 is minuscule by compassion, as it only needs around 250 MB and 300 MB for the PS5 and PS4 versions respectively.
Overall, PS5 owners should have around 122.5 GB of free space if they want to download all three games. It should be noted that PS4 games take up a bit of extra space when installed on a PS5, so the total storage requirements may be higher. In this case, Fallout 76 does not have a native PS5 edition, so gamers interested in playing it will have no choice but to download the PS4 version. By comparison, the free monthly PS Plus games for December 2022 required over 100 GB of free space, with Mass Effect Legendary Edition taking up the bulk of storage.
Sony is yet to reveal the PS Plus Extra and Premium lineups for January 2023, but players already have one game confirmed for next month. PS Plus members in these tiers can play WWE 2K22 at no extra cost in January 2023, but only the PS4 version of the game is available to subscribers.
