Sony recently announced the monthly free PS Plus games for January 2024, confirming that players will get access to A Plague Tale: Requiem, Evil West, and Nobody Saves the World. PS Plus subscribers can start playing these games from January 2, and they will have until February 5 to add these titles to their accounts. Now, it looks like PlayStation Plus members in Japan will be getting a completely different game this month.

Lost Epic will be replacing Evil West as the free game for the month, with gamers being able to add it to their accounts on January 2 alongside the rest of the lineup.

Lost Epic is a 2D side-scrolling action-RPG, so it offers a fairly different gameplay experience when compared to Evil West. It should also be noted that Evil West received better reviews at launch, as its PS5 version has a score of 73 on Metacritic, while Lost Epic is sitting at 64.

Similar incidents have occurred before, as PlayStation Plus subscribers in different regions have received different games in the past. As an example, Tropico 5 was given out as a free monthly PS Plus game for November 2023 in the Middle East, while players in other regions got access to Mafia 2: Definitive Edition. Fans in Asia have also received different games as a part of their PS Plus subscription, with members sometimes getting access to a bonus title in addition to the catalog available worldwide.

Subscribers to the Extra and Premium tiers of PS Plus will get to play even more games later in January 2024, as Sony will update the catalog around the middle of the month. Sony is yet to reveal the list of titles coming to PS Plus Extra and Premium this month, so fans will have to wait a bit longer for the official announcement.
