Sony has officially revealed the free PlayStation Plus games that subscribers can claim in May 2025. Every month, PlayStation Plus subscribers are able to claim a fresh batch of free games. The freebies are one of the main reasons to sign up for the Essential tier of PlayStation Plus, though they are also available for those that are signed up for the Extra and Premium tiers.
Currently, PlayStation Plus subscribers are able to claim RoboCop: Rogue City, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, and Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth - Hacker's Memory free for their digital libraries. As long as one stays subscribed to PlayStation Plus, they will have access to the games forever. Those interested should be sure to claim them as soon as possible, as RoboCop, Texas Chain Saw Massacre, and Digimon Story will soon be cycled out and replaced by the free PS Plus games for May 2025.
PS Plus Extra Confirms Day 1 Game for June 17
PlayStation Plus Extra subscribers have a new day one game to look forward to in June 2025.
As revealed by Sony, the free PS Plus games for May 2025 are Ark: Survival Ascended, Balatro, and Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun. Ark: Survival Ascended is a multiplayer survival game where players are able to tame a wide variety of prehistoric creatures. Balatro is a roguelike deckbuilder game that took the industry by storm last year, becoming a massive commercial success and securing itself multiple nominations at The Game Awards 2024. Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun is a "boomer shooter" based on the expansive Warhammer 40K universe that should appeal to fans of old-school first-person shooter games. The free PS Plus games will be available from May 6 to June 2, at which point they will be replaced by the June 2025 free games.

Out of these, the one that will likely excite PlayStation Plus subscribers the most is Balatro, even if they haven't heard of it yet. The Balatro experience has only gotten better over time, as updates have added even more content to the game.
Balatro being a part of the free PS Plus games for May 2025 solidifies it as a fairly strong month for the subscription service, though it remains to be seen how fans will react to the lineup.
