PlayStation Plus subscribers may not have to wait as long to hear about the October 2025 selection of free games, as Sony could bundle the announcement with a rumored State of Play broadcast later this week. Assuming that the rumored State of Play goes live, the monthly PlayStation Plus game rotation for October may be revealed around a week before the usual window.
As a necessity for online play on the PS4 and the PS5, a PS Plus subscription also allows users to download a selection of free games each month at no additional cost. Once obtained and downloaded, users can then play the offered games as long as their PS Plus subscription is active at the same membership tier that was required to claim it. While most PS Plus titles can be claimed with an Essential tier membership, some freebies, including Bomb Rush Cyberfunk and No More Heroes 3, require a subscription at the Extra or Premium tiers instead. The games offered by PS Plus change monthly, giving users a limited timeframe to claim the ones they want.

The October 2025 PS Plus Lineup Could Appear During a Potential State of Play
Although the monthly rotation of PS Plus titles is usually announced at the start of a new month, a potential event may give Sony a window to announce the October 2025 slate a little early. A rumored State of Play could happen sometime during the last week of September, giving Sony a chance to surprise fans by revealing some PS Plus freebies slightly ahead of schedule. As for what could be in the potential State of Play itself, previous rumors claimed that Insomniac Games' upcoming project, Marvel's Wolverine, could return to the spotlight for the first time since 2021.
At the time of this writing, Sony has not stated if or when a State of Play will happen, so fans must take any associated rumors with a fine grain of salt. That said, an early PS Plus game reveal is not unheard of. During a State of Play that aired on September 24, 2024, Sony revealed three games from the October 2024 PS Plus rotation a week ahead of its usual schedule. Dead Space, WWE 2K24, and Doki Doki Literature Club Plus were available for PS Plus users to claim at the time.
However, it is currently unclear which games could be part of the October 2025 PS Plus catalog. Although October is traditionally a popular month for the horror genre, what games Sony chooses for the next PS Plus monthly rotation remains to be seen.
