Sony has officially revealed the free PlayStation Plus games that subscribers can claim in October 2025. Typically, free PlayStation Plus games are announced on the last Wednesday of each month, but that only applies if the following Tuesday is the next month. Because next Tuesday is September 30, there was some concern that the free PlayStation Plus games for October 2025 wouldn't be announced until next week.
However, those concerns were alleviated when Sony confirmed that a State of Play would be happening at the end of September. Sony often uses State of Play events to announce its plans for PlayStation Plus, and the latest State of Play was no exception to the rule. Thanks to the latest State of Play, we now know the free games coming in October as well as some of the games on the way for the Extra and Premium tiers in the near future.
PS Plus Free Games for October 2025 Reveal May Be Earlier Than Expected
A rumored event could give Sony a window to announce the October 2025 slate of PS Plus freebies a few days earlier than usual.
As announced at the latest PlayStation State of Play, the free PS Plus games for October 2025 are Alan Wake 2, Goat Simulator 3, and Cocoon. Alan Wake 2 is a critically-acclaimed, award-winning survival-horror game from Remedy Entertainment, while Goat Simulator 3 is a hilarious sandbox co-op game. Cocoon, meanwhile, is a clever sci-fi puzzle game that earned strong reviews at the time of its original release.

Sony didn't just reveal the free PS Plus games coming in October 2025. It also revealed that a bonus game is coming to PS Plus Extra this month. Along with the PS Plus Extra games that were added earlier this month, subscribers to the Extra and Premium tiers can also look forward to The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered on September 26 to celebrate Last of Us Day.
As far as Premium-only games go, at least three more games are coming in 2025. Sony confirmed that beloved fighting games Tekken 3 and Soulcalibur 3 are coming to PS Plus Premium, and Tomb Raider Anniversary is on the way as well. Specific release dates for these games were not announced, but it's always possible that they will be part of the October lineup. We won't know what games will make up the PS Plus Extra and Premium October 2025 lineup for another couple of weeks, so subscribers will have to keep an eye out. In the meantime, they can mark their calendars for Alan Wake 2, Goat Simulator 3, and Cocoon joining PS Plus Essential on Tuesday, October 7.
