PS Plus Update Adds Game That Can Keep You Busy for Hundreds of Hours
The latest update to the PlayStation Plus subscription service gives Extra tier members a massive game to play.
Grand Theft Auto 3: The Definitive Edition is the remastered version of GTA 3, but it's generally considered the worst version of the game. While post-launch updates have made it significantly better, GTA 3's "Definitive Edition" is known to have more technical problems than the original. There are also many fans that don't care for the graphical changes and prefer the old-school art style. Regardless, PS Plus Extra subscribers can now play the game for themselves and come to their own conclusions.
GTA 3: The Definitive Edition is Now on PS Plus Extra
While The Definitive Edition may not be the ideal way to experience the game, Grand Theft Auto 3 is still widely considered to be one of the best video games of all time. GTA 3 revolutionized open world gaming and rocketed the franchise, and Rockstar Games in general, to new heights. Its structure has been endlessly copied in the years since, making it one of the industry's most-influential titles.
Unfortunately, The Definitive Edition of GTA 3 is currently the only way to experience the game on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. The original GTA 3 was delisted from the PlayStation Store, making it impossible for fans to buy it. Those that already owned it can still download that version of the game, however. The same thing happened to Vice City and San Andreas, but the classic versions of the titles are at least still available for purchase on PC through Rockstar's website.
Grand Theft Auto 3 is coming to PS Plus Extra just one month after GTA 5 was removed from the service. GTA 5's removal did not sit right with many PlayStation Plus subscribers, and while GTA 3: The Definitive Edition isn't really a suitable replacement, it may still keep fans of the franchise entertained.
