Tuesday, August 19 will be a sad day for PlayStation Plus subscribers, as that's when they will have to say goodbye to some of the service's heaviest hitters. PlayStation Plus gives users a few different tiers to choose from. The games that are added to the Essential tier can be kept forever as long as one stays subscribed to PS Plus, while the games that make up the Extra and Premium tiers rotate in and out of availability.
PS Plus Extra and Premium feature a huge number of games for players to check out, with their libraries updated on a monthly basis. New games are added to PS Plus Extra and Premium every month, while other games are removed from the service. Unfortunately, 2025 has not been a particularly great year when it comes to PS Plus Extra removals, as the service has seen an exodus of major games. The next batch of departures is expected to leave PS Plus Extra on Tuesday, August 19.

One PlayStation Plus offering for this month is a game that covers some great ground in a genre that usually has a lower profile on Sony's service.
At least 14 games are leaving PS Plus Extra on August 19. Bugsnax, EA Sports UFC 5, Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker, RIDE 5, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, five Sword Art online games, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Top Spin 2K25, and Vacation Simulator are all expected to be removed on that day. Now, it's always possible plans will change between now and then, but PS Plus subscribers shouldn't get their hopes up. They should assume all the games in the Leaving Soon section are getting removed on August 19 and plan accordingly.

What makes the PS Plus games leaving August 2025 especially disappointing is that the service is losing access to one of its best games, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a massive open world action-RPG that earned widespread critical acclaim at the time of its release in 2015 and even took home the coveted Game of the Year award. It being removed from PS Plus just months after GTA 5 left PS Plus is devastating, to say the least, as the Extra tier has now lost two of its best games.
Other games leaving PS Plus on August 19 are disappointing as well. Bugsnax was a launch title for the PS5 and one of the first PS5 games made available through PS Plus. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is a brilliant blend of Star Wars and Soulslike gameplay mechanics, and Vacation Simulator is one of the few remaining VR games on the service. Here's hoping the new games coming to PS Plus Extra and Premium tiers on August 19 make up for the departures.
