Sony has unexpectedly announced plans to open the Concord beta early access weekend to all PlayStation Plus subscribers. July 2024 is proving to be an incredibly busy month for the PlayStation Plus subscription service. This is especially true for anyone who is signed up for PS Plus Premium.
Anyone signed up for PS Plus Premium was treated to the free PS Plus games for July 2024 that are part of the Essential package. They will get access to all the new Extra and Premium games coming on Tuesday, July 16. Of course, since Premium gets users access to all PS Plus benefits, subscribers will also be able to check out the Concord beta this weekend.
PS Plus Extra Adding 9 Games on July 16
Sony official reveals all nine games coming to the Extra tier of its PlayStation Plus subscription service in July 2024.
Sony has confirmed that Concord beta early access will be available to all PlayStation Plus subscribers beginning Friday, July 12 at 10am PT. Previously, the plan was for the Concord beta early access to be restricted to those who have pre-ordered the game, so now a lot more PlayStation fans will be able to try the ambitious new hero-shooter. Concord beta early access will last until July 14. A second beta, open to all PC and PlayStation gamers, will be available from July 18 to July 21. This should give those interested plenty of time to check out Concord while they wait for the game's full release.
Concord Beta Details
As it so happens, Concord's full release isn't all that far off. When Concord was first announced, it also confirmed its August 23 release date. It will be interesting to see how feedback from the beta shapes the 1.0 release of Concord when it launches on August 23. As it stands, the game has proven to be divisive. Fans of the hero shooter genre seem excited to check it out, while those who feel the market is becoming over-saturated are unhappy that Sony has invested first-party resources into the game.
There has definitely been an increase in hero shooters as of late. Besides the ongoing Overwatch 2, Valorant is finally making its way to consoles, Marvel Rivals is in the testing phases, and FragPunk is coming in 2025. Needless to say, Concord has a lot of competition to deal with, but maybe it will do enough to stand out from the pack and attract an audience all its own.
PlayStation Plus subscribers will get to try Concord for themselves on July 12. In the meantime, they can claim the free PS Plus games for July 2024 and wait for the new Extra and Premium additions to make their debut on July 16.
