Sony will soon be announcing the PlayStation Plus games for August. Subscribers may be in for a slightly slower month after June and July packed in more than the normal amount of titles, largely due to PlayStation Plus having celebrated its 15th anniversary during that time. Nevertheless, there are some excellent games that would be great fits for the next batch and help fill out the summer season.

One title that was added to PS Plus' top two tiers could be a good indication of how the service might be approaching its catalog in the future.

PS Plus August 2025 Wish List: Star Wars Outlaws

Approaching a year from its launch late last August, Star Wars Outlaws has come a long way since its initially uneven reception. With improvements made to a number of areas, notably stealth options and technical performance, Outlaws has also received two DLCs–Wild Card and A Pirate's Fortune–adding further intrigue and spice to Kay Vess' underworld adventures. Now that many of its wrinkles are ironed out, it's a perfect time for Star Wars Outlaws to land on PS Plus.

PS Plus August 2025 Wish List: Dying Light Enhanced Edition

Read The Best War Games's Review of Dying Light

Dying Light 2: Stay Human was previously on PS+ Essential, but it was recently rotated off. And while it was originally set to drop on August 22, Dying Light: The Beast was recently slightly delayed to September 19. Still, Techland's third entry in the open-world FPS franchise featuring crunchy combat and impressive parkour is highly anticipated, and will be picking up Kyle Crane’s journey slightly more than a decade after the events of the original. The enhanced edition includes a number of polished updates that make playing it slick and satisfying even after 10 years. Letting fans devour the best version of Dying Light ahead of The Beast would be a killer combination worthy of Kyle himself.

PS Plus August 2025 Wish List: Blasphemous 2

Blasphemous 2 is the excellent follow-up to The Game Kitchen's Soulslike Metroidvania debut. Keeping the striking retro pixel art and the core mechanics from the 2019 original, the sequel adds a larger array of weapons and tools into the mix. It also maintains the punishing but balanced gameplay alongside deep world-building and intense boss encounters. It would be a true treat for subscribers, particularly for fans of the aforementioned genres, as well as those who are enjoying Elden Ring: Nighreign. Players should note, though, that Blasphemous 2 is not exactly like Nightreign, being a solo experience without co-op or roguelike elements. Still, it is one of the best modern takes on the formula, and would be right at home on PS+.

August 2025 Wish List For PS Plus Extra and Premium

Beyond the above Essential possibilities, there are a couple of fantastic games that, if chosen, would likely be added to the higher service tiers:

  • Metaphor: ReFantazio- Atlus' celebrated modern JRPG that channels the design and spirit of its other popular series, Persona, Metaphor offers a similarly engaging experience without the potential hurdle of players having to be familiar with the established characters and setting. Metaphor is a top-notch RPG with a compelling cast and mechanics, and seeing it on PS+ would be superb.
  • Astrobot- The smash-hit 3-D platformer that took home Game of the Year in 2024, Astrobot pays homage to both the genre titles of yesterday and many of Sony/PlayStation's most iconic IPs. Just shy of its one-year anniversary, its inclusion on Premium would round out the collection well.
  • Norco- A narrative point-and-click adventure that is by turns humorous and dark but constantly thought-provoking. Norco' s surreal futuristic Southern Gothic tale is perfect for the deep summer and for fans of games that filter old-school sensibilities through contemporary eyes.
  • Lorelei and the Laser Eyes- A heady philosophical puzzler that was very well-received, Lorelei is one of the best in its class in recent memory, and would be a brilliant pick for this month.
  • Cloudpunk- PlayStation Plus' cozy offerings were previously thin. But that seems to be changing, and given that Cyberpunk 2077 was recently added to Extra, Cloudpunk is like its older, more reserved cousin. Cloudpunk hitting PS+ could serve as a more relaxing experience, but one that still contains many shades of Cyberpunk 2077 in its presentation and characters.

While subscribers won't have to wait long until the latest PS+ titles are shown, these would all fit the service well for the later summer season and offer a nice variety across a range of genres and styles.
