PlayStation Plus has had a strong summer so far. With the service celebrating its 15th anniversary near the end of June, Sony has since been offering members a greater number of deals, specials, and bonus giveaways across all tiers. The last few batches of PlayStation Plus Essential games have also been perceived as relatively more welcome compared to those that arrived in the early half of the year, with some highlights including Diablo 4 and Lies of P. Now that August is drawing to a close and September's announcements are on the horizon, it's time to turn to considering the next PS Plus potential choices.

Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis were announced to be hitting PS Plus back in June, and the pair have now joined the Premium tier. Both are certifiable survival horror classics, but even beyond them, RE4 is arguably the series' most famous and well-liked title. The 2023 remake was equally, if not more, lauded for how it retained the core experience while containing modern polishes and updates. Resident Evil 4 Remake has been oft-requested for PS+ and with Resident Evil Requiem releasing early next year, now would be the perfect time for it to be added.

Read The Best War Games's Review of Stellar Blade
Debuting in 2024 as a close partnership project between developer Shift Up and Sony, and a PS5 exclusive at the time, Stellar Blade's Soulslike action gameplay and post-apocalyptic story made it a breakout hit. Stellar Blade has seen a number of updates since, and bringing it to PS Plus in September would give any players who missed it the opportunity to check its high-quality experience out.

San Diego Studio's MLB The Show is published by Sony, and the franchise previously had a major presence as a longtime PS exclusive. The latest entry received an update in June, and with the current season now in full swing ahead of the World Series in October, the service adding the popular baseball sim this month would be great timing for it to take the field again and let fans loose on the digital diamond.

September 2025 Wish List For PS Plus Extra and Premium
While the above three would be promising choices for Essential, there are, as always, a couple of other popular and/or interesting games that would work well to round out the upper tiers' catalog:
- Solar Ash- The Journey-inspired Sword of the Sea is one of August's PS Extra titles. Heart Machine's Solar Ash would be an excellent double feature for September, as it also sees fans surfing through a series of gorgeously rendered and mysterious landscapes.
- The Order: 1886- Though it had a somewhat controversial launch ten years ago when it was intended to be a showcase for the then-next-gen PS4, The Order: 1886 represents an ambitious part of the console's history. Its third-person gameplay, unique setting, and well-crafted story make it a solid Extra or Premium pick.
- Until Then- An indie game taking inspiration from the culture of the Philippines, Until Then is a light-hearted, narrative-based game on the surface, with many moments of charming humor. But it also explores mature themes of loss while adding in some soft sci-fi elements, and features wonderfully crisp pixel art.
- Octopath Traveler- Square Enix recently announced Octopath Traveler 0, and the original title on PS+ would be a great introduction or refresher for players ahead of the new entry.
- Dungeons of Hinterberg- Another creative indie title, this hybrid of a Zelda-like adventure and social sim uses both to highly satisfying effect. On vacation in a semi-magical scenic tourist town nestled away in the Austrian Alps, protagonist Luisa must explore and conquer various themed dungeons while managing her relationships with the locals and fellow visitors.
As summer starts to come to a close, there's still time left to bask in its glow, and PlayStation Plus bringing any of the above titles to the service in September would go a long way towards letting players do just that.
