Sinn Studio announces its game Swordsman VR will be available on the PS VR2 at launch. The PlayStation VR2 is, as the name implies, Sony's second virtual reality headset, and while fans were aware that the new gear would be on its way at some point, only recently was the release date for it announced. The PlayStation VR2 launches on February 22, 2023, with a price point of $550. Some have already found the pricing of the PlayStation VR2 to be somewhat controversial, but it appears Sony is looking to make it worth the investment. The PlayStation VR2 does appear to be a step above its predecessor, for $550, users will get the headset as well as a pair of controllers and headphones. Alongside this initial improvement from the first model, the PS VR2 also comes with new features, including 4K resolution, vents to prevent overheating while wearing the headset, and haptic feedback similar to that found in the PS5's DualSense controllers. Also, the PlayStation VR2 will of course have a lot of games to play, one of which will be Swordsman VR from Sinn Studio. Swordsman VR is a realistic combat game that lets players parry, riposte, step, and dodge to win duels against regular enemies and some challenging bosses. Initially launching in 2020, the game was available on the original PlayStation VR, and is being upgraded to the upcoming headset when it launches in February. Sinn Studio announced this over on its Twitter, where it also discussed the possibility of Swordsman VR getting a free upgrade for those who already own the game.
This would likely please fans who'd already bought Swordsman VR, as many are currently quite frustrated by the fact that the PlayStation VR2 won't offer backward compatibility for most of its titles on the original PS VR. Swordsman VR joins a couple of other games that will be immediately available on the PS VR2 launch day, and these are Cities VR: Enhanced Edition, and the Horizon spin-off game Horizon: Call of the Mountain.
These are the titles that have currently been confirmed to be available at launch, but a lot of other games have also been revealed for the PlayStation VR2 already. Alongside the announcement of its release date and price point, Sony also unveiled 11 titles that would be available at some point in 2023. There are also a few games that have not been confirmed among that 11, such as Resident Evil Village's VR port, but will likely be coming to the new platform at some point.
PlayStation VR2 is available February 22, 2023.
