Xbox is Getting a Bunch of PS1 Games

Old-school gamers can look forward to a collection of PlayStation 1 games coming to the Xbox ecosystem in the near future.

As reported by Time Extension, a Twitter user recently spotted a promotional advertisement for Hogs of War displayed in a pub's bathroom. The old ad appears to be placed in the Park Tavern on Stroud Green Road. The user expressed delight, stating how glad they were that the pub still had the ad for this PlayStation 1 strategy game after such a long time. Another player responded to the tweet, mentioning that this wasn't an isolated occurrence. More than a decade ago, a similar advertisement for Hogs of War was discovered in a UK pub called North Star, though it's not entirely clear if it has been removed by now.

During the initial release of Hogs of War, the game ran an advertising campaign in the UK, including posters strategically placed in the men's toilets of various pubs. Apparently, some tavern owners decided to keep it, and even after many years, this somewhat underrated PS1 game still resonates with some players.

In October, Hogs of War Lardcore launched a Kickstarter campaign aiming to raise £150,000 to complete a remaster of the game. Developers aimed to include a PC port, online networking, new game options, new cheat codes, single-player campaign rebalancing, an achievement system, and an Ultra Hard Mode campaign with the remaster. However, the Kickstarter campaign didn’t go well and only managed to raise just a third of its initial goal.

Despite the setback, the developer has said that the Kickstarter campaign’s failure didn't mean the end of the project, stating that the team is still working full-time on the remaster. The excitement generated by this found ad is proof of some players' enduring interest in Hogs of War.
