PS5 owners are well-stocked with plenty of new games to try after what's been yet another busy week of game releases, meaning there are several exciting titles to try out this weekend. Between remakes of beloved RPGs, the newest entry in a renowned first-person zombie-slaying series, and the latest heartfelt puzzle adventure featuring the world's favorite building toy, there's a lot to dive into on PS5 over the next few days, and that's not even counting the handful of titles making their console debuts this week or the large swath of indie titles that recently arrived. There are quite a few games vying for players' attention right now, and the following five titles are ones that we'd place a priority on checking out between now and Monday.
Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter
One of the most exciting games arriving on PS5 this week is the remake of the first game in the Legend of Heroes series, Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter. The original Trails in the Sky is a phenomenal RPG that still holds up well in a modern context, but the new remake updates the battle system and visuals to be more in line with the newer Legend of Heroes/Kai no Kiseki games. As far as remakes go, Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter is a new exemplar of how to update a beloved classic for a modern audience in a way that both honors the source material and improves the core experience, cementing it as one of 2025's best RPGs and a perfect starting point for anyone new to the Legend of Heroes series.

Dying Light: The Beast
Techland's third game in the Dying Light franchise arrived this week, and reviews for Dying Light: The Beast point to it being just about everything fans could want from a new entry in the series. Additions to the combat sandbox from protagonist Kyle Crane's new "Beast" abilities add a new layer to an already strong gameplay loop, and the plethora of available side quests and optional content gives players plenty of reasons to veer off the critical path. With October and "spooky season" right around the corner, this weekend could be a perfect time to immerse yourself in the zombie-infested streets of Castor Woods.
LEGO Voyagers
LEGO Builder's Journey's Lightbrick Studio is taking another crack at the IP with this week's LEGO Voyagers, but with a new emphasis on co-op that the excellent Builder's Journey was missing. While both titles are narrative-led puzzle adventure games with some delightfully whimsical building and platforming, LEGO Voyagers' co-op functionality positions it as the kind of game that might be perfect to play with a friend or loved one, especially for any PS5 owners with younger gamers in their family. Considering how important the weekends are as time to decompress and relax, a cozy experience like LEGO Voyagers might be precisely what's called for.

Frostpunk 2
The PS5's library has been gaining more titles in the city-builder genre, with 11 bit studios' Frostpunk 2 finally launching on the console earlier this week. And while you might think that you'd be missing something by starting with Frostpunk 2 and not its predecessor, the truth is that Frostpunk 2 does a great job innovating on the original's survival/city-builder formula and presents a great jumping-on point for newcomers. Anyone looking for a tense and very bleak experience with an impressive amount of strategy involved should absolutely give Frostpunk 2 a shot.

Towa and the Guardians of the Sacred Tree
Ahead of its launch this week, Towa and the Guardians of the Sacred Tree received plenty of praise as one of the most promising upcoming action roguelikes. Now that it's here and players have gotten their hands on it, Towa seems to mostly deliver on its take on a "Hades-like" experience with some satisfying combat and a unique setting. Considering Hades 2's 1.0 launch next week is limited to PC and Switch 2 for the time being, Towa and The Guardians of the Sacred Tree could be an ideal stopgap to scratch any roguelike itch over the coming weekend.
