A dedicated Pokemon fan has shared their custom PlayStation 5 console with the gaming community, flaunting a sleek makeover inspired by the franchise’s Poke Balls. The PS5 has been out in the wild for five years now, and in that time, gamers have been able to bag different colored console covers and controller variants based on Sony’s catalog of games, including The Last of Us and God of War. Additionally, Pokemon fans waste no time in customizing their tech with beloved pocket monsters.
In between creating custom video game consoles, collecting the latest Pokemon Trading Card Game expansion, or scanning recent Pokemon Legends: Z-A details, Pokemon fans should also keep an eye on Gamescom this year. It has been confirmed that the Pokemon franchise has secured a spot at the upcoming event, alongside other big-name developers such as Capcom and the IP’s very own Nintendo.
Pokemon Fan Shows Off Nurse Joy Cosplay
One talented Pokemon fan shows off their detailed Nurse Joy cosplay, recently paying homage to the popular character at a local convention.
Posted on Reddit by C4SC4DO, a photo was shared on the PlayStation subreddit presenting a Poke Ball-themed PS5, similar to another Pokemon fan who made a custom Game Boy decorated with Venusaur. The design is fairly simple, copying the standard Poke Ball’s red and white colorway, and the fan revealed that they had purchased the crimson console plate from AliExpress to create the final look.
Pokemon Fan Creates Poke Ball-Themed PlayStation 5
Other Redditors had hilarious responses to the custom PS5, as one user said they saw it as a “Poland Edition” instead of a Poke Ball, and another warned the original poster in jest about Nintendo suing them. Furthermore, the design left fans wishing they could play the Pokemon video game series on PS5, which remains a Nintendo exclusive currently. Going a step further, and keeping in theme with the PS5’s concept, Pokemon fans have been designing their unique Poke Balls to add to the likes of the popular Ultra and Great Balls, including some original ideas like the Beginner and Birthday Balls.
Of course, the Pokemon PS5 isn’t the first custom job that’s landed upon Sony’s current-gen console, as pop culture aficionados from a variety of fandoms have tried their hand at making themed panels and skins before. A Batman fan received a custom PS5 from their talented girlfriend, which was designed after The Batman movie in the black and red colorway. The PS5 has also received a Call of Duty makeover, The Witcher theme, and even a custom job to make the modern console look like a PlayStation 2.
