Sony’s PlayStation 5 has been around for a couple of years by this point, granting it plenty of opportunity to build up an expansive library capable of catering to the needs of most users. New PS5 games drop at an almost daily rate, ranging from smaller-scale indie projects designed by a handful of developers to massive AAA exclusives that are designed to be system sellers. In the meantime, the PlayStation 4 continues to receive love from cross-generation titles, so people who have yet to upgrade still have plenty to look forward to.

Which upcoming PS5 games will soon hit store shelves around the world? Which projects will define 2026? Although the year's PS5 game calendar has a long, long way to go before it reaches its complete form, things are starting to shape up nicely, at least for the first few months. For all the negativity surrounding the industry, great games are not hard to come by.

Big PS5 Games Coming In January 2026

Code Violet, Code Vein, Cairn, Legend of Heroes, & More

Similar to December, January is often among the slowest of the year, as releases do not typically start to drop until the second half of the month. Fortunately, we will not need to wait too long to get our hands on some exciting 2026 PS5 games, as The Legend of Heroes: Trails beyond the Horizon, Cairn, Code Vein 2, The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin, I Hate This Place, and Romance of the Three Kingdoms 8 Remake should all launch within proximity of each other.

Originally, Code Violet was meant to launch in December, but the PS5 exclusive has been pushed back to January 10. This sets up the action horror shooter to be the first huge-ish release of the year, and it features dinosaurs. Yes, please.

Big PS5 Games Coming In February 2026

Nioh, Resident Evil, Reanimal, & More

While January has its share of delights, it is mostly an appetizer to the main courses. February 2026 has so many big upcoming PS5 games that there are almost too many. Resident Evil Requiem will probably be the year's biggest horror game, and Nioh 3 could very well be the biggest Soulslike game.

Dragon Quest VII Reimagined should be an easy recommendation to JRPG fans, even if its art style might take some getting used to. Romeo Is a Dead Man speaks directly to my love of AA hack-and-slash games, while Reanimal looks like a brilliant evolution of Little Nightmares. Honestly, these are just the tip of the iceberg.

Crimson Desert, Fatal Frame, & More

March 2026's PS5 calendar is jam-packed with goodies, arguably even surpassing its stacked predecessor. The month's biggest release, on paper, should be Crimson Desert, a single-player action-adventure game set within the Black Desert universe. The game looks phenomenal. In terms of other releases, Fatal Frame 2 is getting a remake, which should please horror fans. Monster Hunter Stories 3 should be a solid creature-collecting JRPG. Big PS5 Games Coming In April 2026

Capcom's Pragmata, Saros, & More

April 2026 is still taking shape, but Saros and Pragmata already ensure the month will be an exciting one. The former is Housemarque's latest project, one that seems to take heavy inspiration from Returnal. Pragmata might just be Capcom's weirdest game in years, as it features child-based combat. It looks fascinating.
